蛇 - 古くから豊穣神・天候神として信仰の対象とされ、ヘビは脱皮（だっぴ）することによって古い姿を捨て、新しい姿に生まれ変わることから、変化や再生の象徴とされています。
また、蛇は餌を食べなくても生きながらえることから「神の使い」として崇められてきました。
