松喰鶴は、東ローマ、ペルシアあたりに起源をもつ花喰鳥模様が奈良時代に流行し、平安時代以降に和様化されたものとされ、縁起の良いデザインとされてきた。

The pine crane has a flower-eating bird pattern that originated in Eastern Rome and Persia, which became popular in the Nara period, and has been made into a Japanese style since the Heian period.
